Exciting news.

It's been quite some time since I wrote on this blog but I have a good excuse. I have been busy making cards, but not just any old cards.

Last year I found a website called "making handmade cards" and they offered a free printable paper kit. I downloaded it straight away and signed up to their newsletter.

I was very pleased with the papers and made a lot of cards. Then via the newsletter I was told of the new kits available and I bought the Christmas Bundle kit. It was great and I again I made a lot of cards to give to family and friends for Christmas. I also sent off photographs to MHC of my cards and received a response which was very encouraging.

Then the exciting news came when MHC asked me to be a guest designer for them using the newest kit which is to be launched and I readily agreed. This new kit is very bright and colourful and I have enjoyed very much using it.

I am very proud to say that some of my cards are on their website and I am posting some the photos of one the cards that MHC are using ontheir website.

I cant wait to make some more for them so watch this space......

An even busier day.

I'm knackered and I can't sleep. I have so many things going around in my head it's a waste of time going to bed. I lie there thinking "Go to sleep" and the more I try the wider awake I become.....so I get up and do some thing else for an hour or two and then go back to bed. Then by the time I get to sleep it's time to get up.

I have all sorts of ideas going around and today I have been busy making cards. But first I had to sort out this new computer and arrange all my work how I need it. I have gone from XP to Vista and it is quite a bit different.

With Valentines Day approaching I decided to get some cards done and I am quite pleased with myself for the amount of work I have put in.

I'm just going to be lazy this weekend and do absolutely nothing except perhaps go out to Sunday lunch....... now that would be nice!!

I have posted one of the cards I have made that was requested for a friends Aunt who was 90 and a special card was needed at short notice. The picture is not very good but the card was lovely and I am pleased with the result.

Busy day

Well what a day this has been. It started off early and I cleaned my house from top to bottom. I work outside the house three days a week but this a day I am at home. It's amazing where the glitter gets too. My crafting area seems to have spread everywhere. I started off on my lap and then progressed to a small area of the dining room table. But bit by bit I have spread all over the whole room, the hall and the kitchen.  Thankfully my husband is very patient and doesn't complain at all.

I have all kinds of stash in bags, boxes and plastic containers, and goodness knows how many "made" cards there are around the place. And even though I cleaned the house this morning by 4pm it was starting to spread again....I went to my Yoga class at 11.30 and enjoyed that very much. It's an hour and a half of time for me and it refreshes me no end. At 4pm the man came to help me get the new computer up and running, making sure the e-mail works properly and downloading things for me. I am very pleased with it and I now need to re-organise everything on it, but that is the fun side of things.

I made some lovely cards yesterday using some new papers I downloaded. I am very pleased with the results and will post the pictures as soon as I can.I have done some research into setting up a website and the internet is a minefield. I have a lot more to do before I make up my mind about which way to go, but I will get there in the end.

Spending money.

Today I debated with myself about buying a new laptop, the two voices that talk in your head.... you know the ones. "You don't really need one" "Yes I know but it would be better for me in the long run"

Well the spending voice won and away I went to get a new laptop. This one, they tell me will cover all my future needs and has a large hard drive for me to store all my stuff. Hopefully it will last a long time coz I get very nervous around computers. And all this change over is not doing me any good, it' driving me to chocolate!! I suppose I will learn the more I use it.

Tomorrow it's back to work after a long Christmas break and last week on a trainig course. Can't say I am looking forward to early rising again, it's much nicer to do my own thing. I could very easily adapt to not going out to work if I had the right amount of money.

Just think of all the cards I could be making. Made some more cards today and tried some of the Pink Petticoat stuff. It's really good and as my Yoga tutor has a birthday soon I thought this would be really nice for her. Hope she likes it.

My first Blog!

Hello! My name is Christina, but commonly known as Tina and this is my first ever Blog. I have started to make handmade cards and I am hoping to generate some interest from other people. Either crafters who wish to swap ideas or people who would like to buy them to send to friends and relatives.

I started to make some cards in March 2008 just as a general hobby but I quickly became addicted to it. When I look back at the first ones I made I am quite embarassed by them as they look so obviously homemade, but as time has gone on and I have improved I am now pleased with what I see. I can see the benefit of using good quality materials as it makes all the difference to the finished card, and all the things I use are found in most crafters stashes.

Some of the people that I have been influenced by are the Glitter Girls and I have most of their embossing boards. I have used some of their card stock and embellishments.

I have also tried "Cupcake" and their CD's are very easy to use. I love Crafters Companion and have several of their CD's. Their paper and card stock is excellent, and I have tried stamps and glitters from them too.

But my absolute favourite for papers is Making Handmade Cards.com as they have the most gorgeous downloadable papers ever and I have made several cards using them.
